Green Hearts

The CVSan Green Hearts Team was founded in the Summer of 2013. Green Hearts are volunteers who “wear their hearts on their sleeves” and work under the direction of CVSan’s Zero Waste Department to serve the Castro Valley community and the environment. The goal of Green Hearts Team volunteers is to help others compost, recycle, reduce waste, and to promote a cleaner Castro Valley.

Green Hearts volunteers offer ideas on ways to support the environment and keep Castro Valley clean and often create their own programs. Projects are flexible, fun, and rewarding. All are welcome to join the CVSan Green Hearts team. Volunteers receive a free team t-shirt and recognition for their volunteer work in the community.

Green Hearts volunteers help with:
  • Event Recycling and Organics (Compost) Station Monitoring
  • Cleanup Assistance
  • Gleaning/Harvesting Tree Fruit
  • Assembling Food Scrap Pails
  • Clerical Tasks
  • CVSan Social Media Promotion
  • And more
