2005 Press Releases
Please place your tree curbside beside your carts on your regular collection day during either of the two (2) weeks. If your regular collection day is Monday, you may place your tree out for collection either Monday Jan. 2 or 9; if Tuesday, you may place it for collection either Tuesday Jan. 3 or 10, and so on.
Those who live in apartments may place their trees in their central refuse area or wherever their containers are collected on the day that the single-family residents on their street have collection service.
Please observe the following instructions when placing your
tree:
• Place trees beside carts, not in them.
• Trees must be cut into lengths of six (6) feet or less.
• Flocked trees are acceptable.
• No plastic bags, tinsel, ornaments, decorations, nails, or tree
stands.
After January 13th, trees will not be collected curbside.
To recycle trees after this date, cut them up and place them in your greenwaste
cart. If you have questions, please call WMAC at (510) 537-5500.

CVSD Highlights Special Backyard Services (12/01/05)
You may be eligible for an exemption from curbside placement of recycling,
greenwaste, and garbage carts.
Waste Management of Alameda County (WMAC) provides special manual carryout services, “Side yard/Backyard service”, for single family customers, and multi-family customers with individually billed rollout cart service, who are determined to have difficulty doing so themselves due to physical or mental limitations or disabilities at no additional cost to the customer.
WMAC and customers requesting an exemption for Side yard/Backyard service will determine a reasonable location for carts in order to facilitate collection. Eligible customers will be required to attach a copy of a letter from the requesting customer’s doctor, or a certificate from the motor vehicle department, to the request form.
Multi-family units that use carts and find that carts are
cluttering sidewalks or driveways may discuss the Side yard/Backyard service
option with their property manager. The monthly rate for convenient Side
yard/Backyard service for otherwise able customers is $9.40. For a request
form or for more information, please call Waste Management of Alameda County
at (510) 537-5500.

The CAC may recommend multiple distributions to the District’s Board of Directors in order to award a total of $30,000.00. Proposed projects are not restricted to topics concerning the environment, waste diversion/recycling, or wastewater, but may focus on any community development project whose benefits are within District boundaries.
The District was awarded the incentive funds from Stopwaste.org of Alameda County based on an increased percentage of waste diversion through the Food Scrap Recycling Program and for being an early implementer of this program.
